A very productive week working in the highlands of Chiapas with the Tseltal, Mayan descendant speakers and singers.

 January 26-30, 2026 Jonathan Farrell filmed Mike Peck guiding music sessions in Tenejapa, Oxchuc and San Cristóbal at the Centro de Cultura, the Lowe Foundation and in a singer’s home.

Preparing to record and film music review in Tenejapa. Director of culture enthusiastically welcomes and joins in the singing too.

Adults, children, inexperienced, and local popular musicians sang Christian hymns Paty or David Gomez had translated into Tseltal under the guidance of professional linguist and musician Peck for ease of singability. 

We received feedback to help plan a musical event for the end of 2026. This Christmas Kickoff would be for and include believers and people of goodwill celebrating our Savior in the language of their heart.
